Vauxhall Vivaro Sportive

The Vauxhall Vivaro is an incredible mid sized van which seems forever to be nipping at the heels of its arch rival – the Transit Custom and in terms of sales isn’t too far behind the ubiquitous Ford. Spend any time with the talented Vauxhall and it’s not hard to see why. In a fiercely competitive sector, the Vivaro proves extremely popular with our van hire customers for its terrific value and ultra modern features.

As with any vehicle in our extensive fleet, we always make sure we have the pick of the range here at Westwood, so read on to find out more about the Vauxhall Vivaro Sportive L2 which provides the best combination of equipment, performance, economy and value.

The Latest Vauxhall Vivaro – Style As Well As Substance

The days of a van being a big rattly box with somewhere to sit and not much else are long gone and like pretty much every modern van the Vauxhall Vivaro pays close attention to keeping the driver comfortable. With up to the minute creature comforts, all rolled up into a sleek, modern silhouette that doesn’t offend the eyes of other road users.

Style

From the outside, the new Vauxhall Vivaro is extremely easy on the eyes. With sweeping lines on the grille and bonnet picked up and continued by the adjacent headlight cluster, daytime running LED’s in the upper bumper, along with gentle curves and clean lines elsewhere, this van is striking without being loud about it. Looks aren’t ‘technically’ all that important in a light commercial vehicle, but with the Vivaro, you’ve got them anyway.

Attractive, efficient design isn’t just the territory of premium brands from Germany, the new Vauxhall Viviar shows that vans made in Britain can have well designed cabins too. Inside, the seats are comfortable and the control layout simple and efficient. The quality of the materials and the way they’re used throughout is a farcry from the previous versions and older vans. Modern vans, especially the higher spec’ versions like our Sportives, are almost always packed full in the kind of features you wish you had in your car and you’ll probably find they’re just as easy as your car to drive as well.

Substance

Naturally, if you just wanted something that feels like a car and drives like a car, you’d get a car. So, all niceties aside, the Vauxhall Vivaro still needs to be able to move cargo around. As you’d expect though, it performs perfectly well as practical panel van.

Our L2 Sportives are a little longer than the standard Vivaro, allowing useful extra cargo capacity without noticably affecting maneuverability. There are added parking sensors too in order to help keep the paintwork looking fresh while squeezing into the tightest of spaces.

The load area benefits from both nearside and offside sliding doors and the twin barndoors at the back can be opened extra wide, if, for instance, you wanted to load a pallet using a fork-lift.

There’s a ‘FlexCargo’ hatch in the bottom of the steel bulkhead which, combined with a lever that flips up one of the passenger seats, allows a ladder or similar to be slid all the way through into the passenger footwell, so you can keep them out of sight and less easy targets than mounting them on a roofrack.

The back of the middle passenger seat flips forward to offer a clever surface which functions as a swivelling desk/table for those working or eating while out in their van.

Cabin storage is cleverly arrange too. Along with the various cubbies and drinks holders, there an ‘open’ space which looks to be a glove compartment, but the ‘real’ glove compartment is integrated into the dash above it, the hatch accessed via a hidden button, perfect for hiding things out of sight. THere’s additional underseat storage too, with the space beneath the middle passenger seat being lined with the same hard polystyrene material you find in cool-boxes. We’re not sure it’s supposed to be used as an insulated compartment for keeping your drinks etc cold, but it certainly works that way!

Driving the Vauxhall Vivaro Sportive

We’ve already alluded to the car-like driving dynamics of the Vauxhall Vivaro and it wasn’t just hyperbole! The Vivaro is a little taller than you might be used to when compared with your car, but otherwise, you’ll have no trouble settling into the well positioned drivers seat.

With 6 forward gears, a commanding driving position, large mirrors and power steering, you’ve got everything you need for a comfortable drive.

The features don’t stop there though and there’s. dizzying selection of high tech bells and whistles to make your driving experience all the smoother;
