Latics Administration – Wigan Athletic’s Dignity in Both Hardship and Victory
Everyone who knows Westwood Motor Group, especially our car and van hire or sales customers who’ve visited our office in Ince, will know that we’re immensely proud of being a home grown Wigan based business and just as proud of our long standing association with OUR home team Wigan Athletic. As true dyed in the wool fans, we’ve been shocked and saddened to find out about the Latics Administration and truly upset by the circumstances that have brought it about. Wigans brave, giant killing team, and the support staff behind them, have earned every bit of success they’ve enjoyed in recent years and every bit of respect gained from their incredible work with local community groups and charities via their Wigan Athletic Community Trust. They all deserve far better than what’s been inflicted upon them and upon all of us who support this incredible club.
Fighting on Despite Latics Administration
Despite everything and in true Wigan style, Latics battled on and we were so proud to see our branding on live tv last night and our brave Champions magnificent, well deserved win over QPR. Paul Cook and the lads really did go that extra mile for everyone involved with the club, in what’s been a traumatic week for the staff, supporters and the team. We are Wigan Athletic, we defy all odds. It’s time now to overcome the clubs biggest challenge, pull together as Wiganers do. It’s warming to see our local MP Lisa Nandy and the Mayor of Manchester, Andy Burnham, getting behind our historic club in what is without doubt a dark time for our team. Behind the tragedy of a high flying team set for greater things being subject to such terrible injustice, we can’t forget that the there are 75 hardworking, committed and passionate people, employed by the club who are being made redundant. People with families and bills to pay who’re all worried what the future will bring. Many of whom we know by face and by name. Our heart goes out to them and to all our good friends affected by the Latics administration, who, despite everything are remaining dignified and professional. If there are any businesses looking for wonderful new team members, please consider former WAFC employees for your next hire. The Latics Administration has hit the whole community hard. To see Paul Cooks team which is successful, stable and up to a couple of weeks ago, solvent, laid low in such a manner is a kick in the guts for all of us. We’ve shouted from the stands, taken pride in our association and pride in seeing our company logo all around the pitch at home games. When justice prevails and Latics big news is, once again, their latest victory, we look forward to continuing our partnership and sponsorship. Wigan Athletic weren’t defeated on the pitch and we’re sure they won’t be defeated off it either. As true fans, we stand behind OUR team and we’re sure our great Wigan side will get over this latest hurdle and get back to treating us to more incredible victories like they did last night.
