Wigan Youth Zone: Filling Up Bellies And Dishing Out Pressies
Wigan Youth Zone do great work all year round.
If you’ve ever dealt with them, or even if you’re just from the local area and have seen the good they do, you’ll know how valuable their services are.
They help kids and young adults, but also entire families.
Because when it’s that time of year where some of us do need a bit of support, they’re right there, doing what they do.
And this year was no exception.
Record Numbers
The day before Christmas Eve, Wigan Youth Zone put on something special.
It was their Families Christmas Meal, where young people bring their families for a slap-up festive dinner with all the trimmings, with entertainment on as well.
And it was the sixth time they’ve done it, with this year their biggest yet. It was a massive success, with over 250 people attending
There were gifts too, thanks to the good people at Cash for Kids Manchester.
Cash for Kids Manchester donated the pressies – with a Westwood van bringing them where they needed to go.
Because as a Silver Patron of WYZ, we’ve supplied them with three of our vans, to help them give help to the people who need it.
New Year, New You?
Wigan Youth Zone don’t down their tools at the end of the year.
Every January, they know there’s another twelve months of tireless work ahead. And you have to give thanks to their crazy-enthusiastic volunteers who keep things going.
WYZ couldn’t have done all the good they’ve done this festive period without that support. Whether it’s volunteers giving up their time, or local businesses donating cash or services to help their community outreach efforts, it’s all vital for them to keep doing what they do.
But it won’t get any easier in 2019.
