Today it was a pleasure as always to send some of our team over to Wigan Youth Zone, this time for the December 2025 Business brunch, which was, as you’d expect a Christmas gathering of the members Wigan’s business community who, like us, are involved in supporting the Youth Zone and the phenomenal work they do for young people across the borough.
We sent our very own Rental Executive Bethan and our Marketing Manager Chris along, both of whom had broken out their festive jumpers for the event. Positioned conspicuously outside was one of our brand new Luton box vans, which had been wrapped in Christmas themed livery by our good friends at Pinnacle Branding Group and the design created by the wizards at Attain and with support from The Cottonworks. We’ve donated the use of this highly visible machine for Wigan Youth Zone’s “Miracle on Parson’s Walk appeal”.
On arrival our pair were greeted by the WYZ team and wowed by the foyer of Wigan Youth Zone which had been transformed into a Christmas Grotto, with a giant tree and snowman taking ride of place alongside gifts generously donated by Wigan’s wonderful business community in attendance.

Following the opportunity to grab a coffee and network with other delegates, there was a quick photoshoot with the WYZ team and the others who’d collaborated with us to make the WYZ Christmas van a reality and then hurried back inside to the warm and dry in order to take our seats for a festive feast which consisted of delicious turkey butties with cranberry sauce and stuffing, washed down with hot mulled wine.

There was a Christmas quiz in which Chris and Bethan teamed up and ended up falling only three points behind the ultimate winner and all attendees listened intently as Anthony and Lynsey of the Youth Zone spoke about their various achievements over the year, as well as recognising the patrons who’d either joined as new supporters, or who’d increased their support.

Some of the achievements to be applauded, include the Youth Zone winning the Not For Profit of he year award at the recent Wigan Business Awards. As well as winning an award at the ‘Children & Young People Now’ awards – a hugely prestigious national award event which took place in London.
For the Youth Zone, the year isn’t yet over. There’s the ‘WYZmas Markets’ which are taking place this Sunday (December 7th) with the Youth Zone and external stallholders bringing a free to enter Christmas market and more between 11am and 3pm, definitely worth a visit.
There’ll also be WYZ’s annual Christmas dinner where the Yoth Zone will host around 250 people, at least half of whom who’ll never have vsiited t the Youth Zone before, but who, for whatever reason, have circumstnce which mean they might otherwise miss out on the magic we ALL deserve to experience over the festive period. There’ll be elves, entertainment, performers, a grotto and a full festive meal. Also, everyone will go home with something. For families, there’ll also be a hamper of donated non-perishable items to take home.
Which is where the van comes in. The unmistakably liveried Luton will be parked up in various locations, including the Cottonworks, Standish Markets and other places across the borough in order to collect donations of unwrapped gifts and non-perishable food items as part of heir Miracle on Parson’s Walk appeal. Keep an eye out and help the WYZ team fill it up! Alternatively, donations can be made directly at the Youth Zone. Why not join in and help make someone’s Christmas a bit more magical?

As ever, if you’re a local business and aren’t yet involved in Wigan Youth Zone, we’d heartily encourage you to get in touch with them and get involved. Being a part of what they do is hugely rewarding and an investment in the future of Borough itself.
We’d like to once again thank the team at Wigan Youth Zone for their hospitality and for everything they do for all the young people fortunate enough to benefit from the wonderful work they do.
