Wigan Athletic Training Day
When you grow up as a dyed in the wool supporter of your home team and years later are able to become one of the main sponsors, it’s pretty much a dream come true. Our MD Chris Melling has done just that and we know what a continual source of pride it is for him and the rest of the team here at Westwood to be a part of our fantastic ‘Tics success.
We were exceptionally honoured earlier this week to be invited to attend a Wigan Athletic training day at Christopher Park in Standish, along with some of Latic’s other sponsors; fellow leading businesses from across the borough.
In attendance on behalf of Westwood were Ilesha from our accounts team and Yolanda from our Sales & Rental team.
As our ladies arrived, they were treated to a fantastic spread, as food had been laid on for the attendees and they then had the opportunity to observe our lads being put through their paces as they developed their considerable skills on the pitch. Not many people know that our very own Yolanda is a former football coach herself, so we know she’ll have especially appreciated catching the session and will no doubt have had a chat afterwards… we can’t say whether or not there was an exchange of ideas!
Following the Wigan Athletic training session, Ilesha and Yolanda had the opportunity to mix with fellow corporate delegates and the players as well as getting some photo’s with Latic’s shining, and exceptionally well dressed superstars.
Westwood’s Sponsored player, Sam Tickle, presented our ladies with a shirt signed by the whole team, as well as his own framed, signed shirt and a pair of gloves too. As well as being Wigan Athletic’s star goalkeeper, Sam is also a rising star playing for England Under 21s and achieving massive success in the same way he has at Wigan.
All to soon the day was at an end and our team made their way back to our Wigan head office. Both had a terrific time and we can confirm that Yolanda didn’t take that shirt off for the rest of the day! We’re yet to decide where our framed Sam Tickle shirt will hang, but rest assured it’ll have pride of place!
