It takes a special calibre of person to be a part of Team Westwood and for us, more often than not, our top talent isn’t discovered, it’s created.
Such was the case with young Jack Cowan, who started with us as an apprentice at the tremendously young age of 16. Initially on the rental desk learning about daily hire and all the soft skills which anyone ‘front of house’ needs to have. Since that time he’s flourished and has had the opportunity to learn and to grow, trying his hand at several areas of the business, gaining knowledge and above all else, experience as he’s done so.
Today, Jack is a thoroughly pleasant, easygoing and gregarious young man. People skills have always come easily to him, he’s instantly engaging and exudes a quiet confidence which puts customers at ease. His honest, authentic good nature inspires their trust and confidence, which he always strives to justify.
We’re proud that we don’t have pushy salespeople here, they’re unnecessary. Our stock speaks for itself. What we do need, is pleasant, customer focussed and knowledgeable individuals who make prospective customers feel like welcome guests and go the extra mile to look after them.
Jack has done such a great job becoming exactly this sort of ‘saleman’, that today, we were delighted and exceptionally proud to reward his hard work, personal growth and learned skills, by formally recognising him as not just a Sales Executive, but a Westwood Sales Executive.
Jack is just one of several examples of our commitment to providing the right people with opportunities to learn and develop, nurturing talent and giving them the chance to shine. Ultimately, as a business, we benefit by ending up with THE best and most talented team in the industry, all by bringing on promising youngsters and not holding them back once they’ve discovered their talents. After all, where else would you find someone lke Jack Cowan – a 22 year old, with nearly 6 years of industry experience!
