Wigan’s Premiere Awards Event
Over the weekend, it was our privilege, once again, to be a part of the Wigan Borough Business Awards, the borough’s most prestigious and glamorous celebration of everything that’s good about doing business in and around Wigan, with a veritable wishlist of the great and the the good from Wigan’s leading business community.
As before, the event took place at The Brick Community Stadium and from early evening, attendees gathered on the mezzanine for networking drinks and catching up with friends and colleagues. Soon after, guests were ushered into the ballroom and took their seats for the first part of the awards.
This year, we were category sponsor of the Micro Business of the Year Awards, celebrating the seeds from which tomorrow’s mighty business oaks will grow. Finalists were as follows:
- The Bridgeman Physio Centre
- NJ Cleaning
- SOLSONAFILMS
Presenting the awards on Westwood’s behalf was our very own Bethan Bibby, pictured below with each of the worthy companies as she congratulated each in turn for their successes.
With more awards to follow, delegates were able to witness many more great local companies being given worthy recognition for their successes and their contribution to making the borough such a fantastic place to be and to do business.
The awards were paused for the evening meal and guests were served with their choices from the menu, great food served with efficiency by the stadium’s magnificent events team. There was also the opportunity to make a donation via sealed envelopes for a charity. At the point of donation, delegates each made a nomination of a charity and later, one of those nominated good cause would receive all the donations.
The awards carried on after guests had enjoyed their meals and later on concluded with the last award, the overall Wigan Business of The Year. This was won by our good friends at Greenmount Projects, who deservedly claimed the accolade, having wowed the independent panel of judges.
Following, was the draw for the evening’s charitable donation. Wigan’s wonderful business comminuty had dug deep and raised a grand total of £3185.00. All the empty envelopes went into a bucket and a single one was drawn, with the nominated charity written thereon was Wigan and Leigh Hospice, one of our very favourite local good causes and now the recipient of the evenings donations.
While that concluded the formal part of the evening, the night was still young and both the music and the party atmosphere were turned up to max, with singing, dancing, entertainment and an utterly bonkers game of bingo which delighted those with the energy to party into the small hours.
Our hearty congratulations to the WBBA team for having once again put on a triumph of an evening, congratulations also to each of the events award winners along with our gratitude to the fabulous business community for making this borough such a great place to live, to work and to be a part of.
