The Ford Fiesta has many variants, Zetec, EcoFlex, Style, but the favourite is the Ford ST – and it now has 5 doors in its new model. This means that the rear seats are easier to access through these new two additional doors, with a 25% increase in customers opting for this model according to Ford
With two extra doors comes an extra bit of cash, the new 5 door Fiesta ST starts at £18,495, with the previous three door entry Fiesta ST-1 £600 cheaper. The major overt change is the functionality of the new two doors, the engine remains the same 1.6 litre turbo petrol engine with 182 PS
The new 5 door Ford ST still comes with the chassis that uses torque vectoring, the standard kit included and the 3-mode stability control.
This includes the 17″ alloys, a more sport oriented grille and a rear diffuser. Inside the car the ST stitching on the Recaro seating.
However, the fuel economy in the 5 door model does not match the 47.9 MPG figure that the 3 door has, with it producing 46.3 MPG. In addition to this, the emissions produced by the 5 door are 141g/KM of CO2, rather than the 3 door 138g/KM
The 5 door ST follows the previous launch of the 199 PS Fiesta ST200. The ST200 goes from 0-62 MPH in just 6.7 seconds, but the ST200 can only be purchased as a 3 door hatchback not a 5 door. It includes a revised suspension set up and it’s with this extra boost that the car can do 0-62 so quickly
